Diyar Al Muharraq, Kingdom of Bahrain, XX December 2016: The Kingdom’s largest Chinese wholesale and retail hub, Dragon City celebrated their first anniversary with an extravagant range of activities on 27th December 2017.
VIP guests, noteworthy dignitaries, officials from Diyar Al Muharraq, Dragon City, Royal Charity Organization and other company officials, media and many invited guests as well as customers were welcomed in a press conference, marking the beginning of cheerful celebrations.
Following the meet and greet, a video was shown to all present at the anniversary celebrations, which highlighted and perfectly showcased Dragon City’s remarkable achievements in the duration of its initial year. The video portrayed the success of the well-known Dragon City in making it the centre of attraction owing to the number of exciting, family friendly events and activities the mall holds for its customers.
On the auspicious occasion, Mr. Ahmed Al Ammadi, Head of Investments and Asset Management of Diyar Al Muharraq commented saying “It gives me great pleasure to welcome you as we together celebrate Dragon City’s first year anniversary, since its inception. It’s truly incredible to have you here after one year of a successful year of launching and establishing Dragon City in Bahrain. I would like to thank the Ministries and the officials who hold this happening here. I would like also to thank Chinamex Bahrain for making this year a successful year and easy on everyone. We are looking forward for more successful years,”
Commenting on the mall’s exponential growth, Mr. Patrick Zheng Shuo, General Manager of Chinamex Bahrain Management Company, the City’s operating company said: “It gives me such great honour to represent the team here at Dragon City as we celebrate its first birthday. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Government of Bahrain, Chinese Embassy, Diyar Al Muharraq, all our tenants and the various media officials for their strong support and cooperation that have contributed in our success.”
In addition, he said, “Dragon City Bahrain is a strategic project, that is based in the Kingdom and radiating to the gulf region. We aim to build a new regional trade hub to promote the development of trade, tourism, investment between China and Bahrain, and finally contribute the national economic development of Bahrain. Under this idea, we initiated our cooperation with Diyar Al Muharraq to plan the business model and operation aim of Dragon City. Moreover, we hope to promote cultural exchanges between Bahrain and China.”
During the celebration and in conjunction with the mall’s remarkable success, Dragon City officials presented a cheque to Royal Charity Organization (RCO). The cheque was presented to Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, RCO Director of the Department of Resource Development and Mr. Yousif Al Yaqoob, Assistant General Secretary of Planning and Developing Charitable Funds in RCO, who expressed his gratitude towards this generous donation and thanked Dragon City for continuously supporting the young lives. He commented, “On behalf of Royal Charity Organization, I would like to take this opportunity and thank Ahmed Al Ammadi and Patrick Zheng for their ongoing support and would also like to congratulate them on the prosperous year of Dragon City.”
After the press conference took place, the 1st anniversary cake which was designed extravagantly depicting the Chinese dragon wrapped around the cake, was brought out and cut, marking the occasion. Cakes were distributed to all the guests as well as during the course of the evening, where all the little children present at Dragon City received delicious little cupcakes along with teddy bears to make the occasion one to remember.
In line with the ‘Taste of China’ initiative and their 1st Anniversary, Dragon City during the announced the winner of the December car raffle marking the end of the attractive shopping campaign. Mr. Yousif Abdulhamid Al Jasir , a Saudi national, drove away with a brand new Cherry Tiggo 3 SUV. The announcement of the lucky car raffle draw came as part of the 1st anniversary celebrations that took place on 27th December 2016.
It is worth noting that within the span of a single year, Dragon City has notched several significant accomplishments on its belt. Besides enriching the cultural landscape of the Kingdom, introducing people in Bahrain to Chinese culture and heritage, Dragon City is a pioneer in increasing the trade movement between Bahrain and China to reach over 200 million US dollars in the recent period. It also plays a vital role in bringing more Chinese investments to the Kingdom, contributing to more exchange between the countries.
Furthermore, the mall has over 500 traders and boasts an occupancy of 95% of all commercial units. Approximately 10,000 visitors are received on a daily basis, a number which increases significantly during weekends and holidays.
