DRAGON CITY CELEBRATES CHINESE LUNAR YEAR

25 January 2017

Description

As the Chinese New Year approaches to mark the lunar year, it is a time where Chinese culture shines from almost every part of the world. Rooted in its culture for thousands of years, the popularity of this tradition has grown tremendously since its revival recently. The Chinese New Year celebration thus became an opportunity for everyone to focus on individual success and prosperity.

The New Year Festival is a significant tradition dating back centuries, celebrating the turn of the Chinese lunisolar calendar. Each year is assigned one of the 12 animals from the Chinese Zodiac. 2017 will be year of the Rooster.

To mark this occasion, Dragon city is organizing an exciting event, giving shoppers the opportunity to immerse in a unique cultural experience as well as stand the chance to win valuable gifts with a Social Media Competition. Festivities to commemorate the Lunar Year will take place on the 27th and 28th of January on both days. The whole mall will be festively adorned with a beautiful light display both within the premises as well as outside Dragon City, befitting the spirit of the occasion.

Entering the Social Media Competition takes a few simple steps. Firstly, shoppers are to take a photo or selfie with Dragon City’s Chinese New Year decorations. Then, shoppers are to post the photo via social media, using the hashtags #RoosterRedPocket and #dragoncitybh. To be eligible, shoppers must follow Dragon City’s Instagram account @dragoncitybh.

The final two steps are to show a screenshot of the post to ladies wearing traditional Chinese attire at the mall and obtain a ‘Red Pocket’, which can be exchanged for gifts at the information desks located at Gate 4 & 12. There will be 6 ladies present throughout the mall available to shoppers.

Mr. Patrick Zheng Shuo, General Manager of Chinamex Bahrain Management Company, the City’s operating company, commented on the occasion and said: “The Chinese New Year is an integral part of the Chinese culture. I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to Dragon City to witness the celebrations and take part in the festivities and competitions we have incorporated for the duration of the exciting celebrations. A great deal is planned for Bahrainis and residents to get a feel of what it is like to have an unforgettable Chinese New Year.”

A photo booth representing the Year of the Rooster will be present where visitors can take pictures, indeed making their visit a truly memorable one. Dragon City welcomes people from across the Kingdom to partake in these celebrations and get the chance to win wonderful gifts.
