Over 30,000 people attended the Dragon City Chinese New Lunar Year Celebrations which were held last weekend from 27th to the 28th of January, participating enthusiastically in the auspicious event.
The Chinese New Year celebrates the turn of the Chinese lunisolar calendar. Each year is assigned to one of the 12 animals from the Chinese Zodiac signs; 2017 is the year of the Rooster.
To make it a moment to remember, Bahrain’s largest retail and wholesale hub organised exciting events to welcome the Chinese New Lunar Year, where visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique cultural experience, and additionally having the opportunity to win valuable gifts through a Social Media competition. To set the ambiance of the Chinese New Year, the mall was adorned with a beautiful light displays and other Chinese decor both within and outside its premises.
Furthermore, the event featured several activities such as a photo booth with a Chinese theme representing the Year of the Rooster, allowing visitors to take pictures and make their visit a truly memorable one. Visitors also enjoyed origami lessons and were able make their own custom-made origami.
Mr. Patrick Zheng Shuo, General Manager of Chinamex Bahrain Management Company, the City’s operating company, commented on the occasion saying, “The Chinese New Year Celebration at Dragon City was one of the greatest events we ever organised. It was such an honour to have this huge crowd of people enjoying a celebration of Chinese culture, and we were glad to host such a successful event.”
